Ruth (Bath) Roman

October 23, 1927 ~ February 11, 2019 (age 91)


DEERFIELD, NY-Ruth Bath Roman, 91, of Deerfield, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, February 11, 2019 at her residence, with her family by her side.

She was born October 23, 1927 in Plains, PA, the daughter of the late, John and Clare Osborn Bath. Ruth grew up in Kingston and Wilkes-Barre, PA, where she attended Wyoming Seminary, a college prep school. She continued her education at State Teachers College in Bloomsburg, PA where she earned her Bachelors in Education. Ruth then received her Masters at Hillyer College in Hartford, CT in 1958. Ruth enjoyed forty-four years of marriage with Raymond S. Roman. Mr. Roman passed away in January of 2015.

Prior to her retirement, she taught in the Newington Public School District, CT, for thirty-three years. During her retirement she was a strong support to her husband’s businesses. Ruth homes schooled her granddaughter, Lesley until the completion of seventh grade, installing a strong foundation in her ELA skills. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed all sorts of crafts including sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Anne Christophory, whom she resided with; her beloved granddaughter, Lesley of Albany, NY; her cousins, Nancy O and James Quimby and their daughters, Leah and Laura and David Osborn. She was predeceased by her aunt, Irena Osborn and her uncle, George Osborn.

All funeral services will be held privately, with her wishes of cremation to follow.
