Anna (Kovac) Pargansky

March 31, 1932 — January 13, 2024

Herkimer, New York

Anna Pargansky, 91, a longtime Mohawk Valley resident, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital, Utica.

She was born on March 31, 1932, in New York City, daughter of the late Stephen and Susan (Zguris) Kovac Walach.   Anna was the step-daughter of the late Paul Walach, Sr.  She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1949. Anna was united in marriage with the late Stephen Pargansky, in September of 1952, Mr. Pargansky passed away in 2002.  

Anna enjoyed cooking, reading, playing games and spending time with family.  She loved the times spent with the East Herkimer Seniors and with her many friends at Galinsky Apartments and her special lunch bunch.  She was also a very dedicated fan of the NY Mets.  Anna was a fun loving and caring person, who will be missed by all.  She was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include her brother, Paul Walach, Jr., of Brooksville, FL, sister, Mildred Walach of Ilion, a very special niece, Dawn (Kovac) McCann (partner, Brian) of Long Beach, NY, a very special cousin, Joseph Kryc and family of Scottsdale, AZ.  She is also survived by nieces, Kim Kovac-Bowman and family of Newport, Lisa Bugaj of Rensselaer, NY, Rebecca Fredericks and family of Little Falls and many great-nieces and great-nephews.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Susan, her son, David, brothers, John and Stephen Kovac and by a sister, Elizabeth Bugaj.

In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.  Anna’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the ICU nurses at Wynn Hospital for their hard work, especially Dakota who took such wonderful and gentle care of her.

There are no calling hours.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 at 10 am with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor officiating.  Spring interment will take place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls.  Traditional funeral services were coordinated under the direction and care of the locally/family-owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, Route 5, Little Falls.
