Anthony V. "Tony" Fosella

June 28, 1930 — July 6, 2023

Herkimer, New York

Mr. Anthony V. Fosella, age 93, a longtime Herkimer resident, husband of Lynda S. Fosella, passed away peacefully in the care of Little Falls Hospital, on Thursday evening, July 6, 2023, with his loving family at his side. 

Anthony (Tony) was born on June 28, 1930, son of the late Michael and Mildred (Dinardo) Fosella and educated in schools down state.  He proudly served our country with the US Air Force during the Korean War. On November 25th, 2000 he was united in marriage with Lynda S. Layaw; a blessed union of 23 years.  They were married in Little Falls. Anthony was the owner and operated  A. Fosella Construction/Engineering. 

Tony loved his family, deeply and thoroughly. His loved ones made him feel better when they were around him and vice versa. He was ever so proud of his Italian heritage. He was active in the Herkimer community; holding memberships with the Herkimer Elk’s Lodge and the Knights of Columbus.  He also enjoyed being an instructor for hunting classes and loved calling Bingo at Holy Name School in New Rochelle, NY.  Tony will be warmly welcomed to his eternal home where his energy will shine just as bright. He was a loving, forgiving and unforgettable man.

He is survived by his cherished family; his wife, Lynda at home; his children, Richard Fosella of New Rochelle, Donald Fosella and wife Carmelina of New Rochelle, Estelle Fosella Smith and husband Gary of Ilion, and Chad Riesel and his girlfriend Stacy Woods of Herkimer; his sister, Clementine Amodio of Carmel; Daughter In Law, Judy Fosella; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his sons Stephen Fosella and Brad Riesel; by his grandchildren, Rebecca King, Ian Wellington and Zoie Riesel; and by his siblings, Vito Fosella, Marian D’Ambrosio and Frances Evans.

In respecting his wishes, there are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his graveside service commencing at 11 am on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at North Columbia Cemetery. Kindly consider and send memorial offerings in his name to the Herkimer County Humane Society. In keeping with his pre-arranged wishes, services are being planned under the direction and care of the locally owned and operated Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.
