Bertha Mae Brown
Herkimer, New York

Bertha Mae Brown, age 68, of Herkimer, went home to be with the Lord and joined her son, Joseph Ernest in heaven on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Foltsbrook Center for Nursing and Rehab.

She was born on August 31, 1952, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Angelo and Flora Ponzi and educated in St. Johnsville schools. She grew up in St. Johnsville. She was last employed with Lasalle Labs, Little Falls and worked for the Little Falls Sewing Factory at one time. She then became a stay at home mother and grandmother. Bertha was a very devout Catholic and attended Holy Family Parish, Little Falls and loved talking religion with anyone. She spent every morning praying, reading the bible and listening to hymns.

Bertha enjoyed bingo, crafts, crocheting, and loved going outside for walks and going for a ride with her daughter, Angie. She enjoyed socializing with her friends at Foltsbrook Center and was a talented drawer. Some of her favorite times were at the nursing home music hours and she loved reminiscing about the good old times in the valley. Above all, her most special times were spent in the company of all her grandchildren and great granddaughter who brought a smile to her face. Bertha loved white doves and what it represented toward her religion. She always wanted to get a tattoo of a dove, so her daughter Angie made sure this happened and got a matching tattoo with her momma, before her passing.

Survivors include her husband Timothy Brown Sr. and her beloved children, Dean Galusha of Elmira, Angela Theresa Cook of Frankfort and husband Brad Cook and her children, Anthony Turturo, Andrew Vogt, Brendan and Abagail Mae Cook and a great granddaughter, Lilah Mae Turturo, daughter, Tiffany Marie Brown of Mohawk and her partner, Michael Fonda and their daughters, Mikaelyn Marie and Elliana Mae Fonda, son, Timothy Brown, Jr. of Little Falls and his partner, Abagail Phillips and their children, Brody Joseph, Calvin James and Arlo William Brown, her beloved son, Joseph Ernest's daughter, Alexandria Mae Ernest.

Bertha and her family's care has been entrusted to Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls, (corner of Bidleman Rd.), 315-508-5131. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and activities department at Foltsbrook for the love and care they gave Bertha; she was very thankful to have them. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at MVFC on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 5-6 pm and attend her funeral service commencing after the visitation hour at 6 pm.
