Beverly P. Davis

Dolgeville, NY-Mrs. Beverly P. Davis, age 94, a longtime insurance agent and resident of Dolgeville, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 23, 2017.  Her passing occurred in the Sitrin Rehabilitation Center, Utica. Beverly was born in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of Isaac Adelbert (Bert) Pooler and Pearl McCammon Pooler. She grew up in Perth, and graduated from Perth High School. She attended Albany Business School for secretarial science. Beverly used her training to work at GE in Schenectady, where she met and married Arthur Gross of Albany. They had a son, Gary Gross, who predeceased her in 1992. In 1950, she married Kenneth S. Davis, of Dolgeville, NY, who predeceased her in 1993. She was a resident of Dolgeville for almost 70 years, and was a successful business owner on North Main Street for many of those years, owning and operating the C. J. Youker Insurance Agency, and Manheim Liquors. She was very active in the Herkimer County Insurance Women’s Association. She also prepared personal income tax returns for many clients locally for over 50 years. Survivors include sons Gregg and his wife Jean Davis of Livingston, TX, and Randy Davis, formerly of Dolgeville and currently of Utica, NY; six grandchildren: Douglas, Stephen and Michael Gross, all living in the Dolgeville vicinity; Deanna Davis Howe from CA, Justin Davis from FL, and Shereen Davis Brown from TN; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three nieces, Linda Porter Post from CO, Barbara Porter from Dolgeville, and Elizabeth (Betty) Wade from CO; nephews Wayne Pooler and Bert Pooler from Perth, NY; brother-in-law Charles Dean Porter from Dolgeville.  In addition to her husband, Kenneth, and her son, Gary, she was predeceased by her brother, Roland Pooler, her sister, Phyllis Barrow, and her sister-in-law Marian Porter. There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service which will commence on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at the Utica Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1134 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY.  A traditional burial service will be privately held at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mohawk Valley Choral Society, for the Kenneth and Beverly Davis Memorial Fund. Checks can be made out to the Mohawk Valley Choral Society and mailed to 1918 Baker Avenue, Utica, NY  13501.  Daniel J.
