Bradford D. Darrow Sr.

Bradford D. Darrow Sr., 86, of Ilion, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born to Glenn Sr. and Elizabeth Darrow, Brad was a lifelong resident of llion, where he attended llion Jr./Sr. High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and service that would define his life.
For over 30 years, Brad worked at Birnie Bus, where he was known for his kindness and camaraderie with both students and coworkers. His warm spirit and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Brad was a man of many passions. He found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was hunting, riding motorcycles, or four-wheeling. He also cherished the simple pleasure of feeding the birds, finding peace in their presence. However, his greatest joy came from his family.
On June 14, 1980, Brad married JoAnn, and together they celebrated 44 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. He was a devoted father to his sons, Matt (Shannon), BJ (Trisha), and John, and a proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren: CW, Brayden, Connor, Noah, Payten, and Luke. He also adored his granddogs, Harley, Bailla, Moose, and Duke, who brought him much happiness.
Brad is predeceased by his parents, his brother Glenn Jr., and his beloved daughters, Janet and Laurie. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience that will continue to inspire his family and friends.
In honor of Brad's memory, the family has chosen not to hold services. Instead, they invite those who wish to celebrate his life to consider making a donation to the Herkimer Humane Society, a cause that was close to his heart.
Bradford D. Darrow will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
