Brian Edward Mazzacua, 72, of Mohawk, passed away on Saturday morning, January 18, 2025, at Wynn Hospital in Utica after a long battle of chronic kidney disease.
Born on February 22,1952, in Utica, NY, Brian was the son of the late Mary and Joseph Mazzacua of Syracuse, NY. Brian was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
He spent most of his years working in maintenance and painting. He loved to go fishing with his son at Black River in Rome, NY. His love for animals will forever be remembered. Brian spent most of his time in his man cave (garage) building things with the tools that he really loved. He was an avid coin collector and also loved to collect knives. Every Sunday you would catch him watching his favorite football team the Washington Commanders. He also loved Syracuse football and basketball. His biggest joy was when he got to see his grandchildren. His smile said it all.
Brian is survived by his children, Matthew Mazzacua of Ilion, NY and his daughter, Sara (Dominick) Mazzacua of Mohawk, NY and his two beautiful grandchildren, Landyn and Aria Parker, his ex-wife, Sharon Mazzacua of Little Falls, NY, who he was married to for 32 years and still remained friends with. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Laura (Walt) Ostasz of Little Falls, NY, Cindy Stallman of Dolgeville, NY, Lisa (Scott) Douglass of Little Falls, NY, Donnie (Sheri) Stallman of Dolgeville, NY, and Angela (Scott) Gerharz of Baldwinsville, NY, as well as many step grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne (Tom) Peoples of Leesburg, VA. Preceding his death, were his parents, Mary and Joseph Mazzacua and many aunts and uncles.
Brian’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Wynn Hospital.A celebration of Brian’s life will be held Saturday February 1st, 2025, at 1:00pm at the Mohawk Legion. Family and friends are invited to honor his memory. His children have placed funeral arrangements into the care of Daniel J.
