Catherine (Reardon) Seaman Sweet

Catherine (Reardon) Seaman-Sweet, age 86, of Little falls passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in Little Falls Hospital with the comfort of her family by her side.

Catherine was born in Little Falls, NY on July 20, 1936, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Miller Reardon. She was raised on Furnace Street, Little Falls and attended St. Mary's Academy graduating in 1954. She was united in marriage to the late Murray F. Seaman on October 5, 1957, at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. They shared a devoted union of 41 years until his passing in August 1997. Catherine later married the late Donald A. Sweet on December 31, 2003, at Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. They celebrated 18 years of marriage until his passing in November 2021.

Catherine worked for MDS in East Herkimer, Daniel Greens in Dolgeville, Martin Reel in Mohawk, various other local companies and retired from Mohawk Valley Oil in Marcy. She was a member and past treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 31 of Little Falls and a lifelong member of the Polish Community Home, Herkimer. Catherine was a Board of Elections Inspector for Herkimer County, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation for 50 years of service. She was a long-time member of the Women's Democratic County Committee.

Surviving are her children, Edward Seaman of Schenectady, NY, Steven Seaman of Central Square, NY, Katherine Rice of Fort Myers, FL, John Seaman and wife Julie of Mohawk, Marianne Aloisio and husband Peter of Herkimer, grandchildren, Paul Rice, Nathaniel Rice (Rachelle Cobell), Shawn Rice, Megan Riedl (Jeremy Riedl), Maureen Seaman, Shane Seaman, Kayla Monahan (Brian Monahan), Jack Seaman, Matthew Aloisio and Peter Aloisio, great-grandchildren, Owen, Tyler, Magnolia, Marigold, Brianna and Gabe, a great-great grandchild Jaelyn and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husbands she was predeceased by a son, Murray A. Seaman "Nucky" in 2003, a sister, Ann Reardon in 2021 and a son-in-law Richard Rice in 2013.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, commencing at 12:00pm from the chapel of MVFC. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where committal will take place. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, prior to the funeral service.
