Charles E. Haberek

Charles E. Haberek, age 67, of West Main Street, Little Falls, passed away on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born on August 21, 1954 in Little Falls, son of Charles and Carol (Silvernail) Haberek and educated in Little Falls schools. He graduated with the Little Falls High School, "Class of 1972". For 33 years he was employed with Burrows Paper Mill/Twin Rivers, retiring on Aug. 1, 2019. Prior to his employment with Burrows, he worked on the Ron Timmerman Farm. He was united in marriage with Katherine Van Slyke on Dec. 10, 1988 in Little Falls. They recently celebrated 33 years of marriage.
Charles enjoyed relaxing at his camp at Pine Lake where he shared many good times with family and friends. He enjoyed cooking in his spare time and hanging out with his beloved canine companion, Coori. His lifetime dream was to travel out west in his RV and he accomplished this dream this past year, leaving August 25, 2021 and returned on November 25, 2021 seeing many sites and national parks along the way. Charlie was happy to share his traveling experiences with his good friends, Sheila and Jeff Gilman. He will be remembered by many for all of his "Charlieisms".
Survivors include his wife, Kathy at home; his parents, Charles and Carol Haberek of Ilion; his children, Charles "Aaron" Haberek (Amber) of Niverville, NY, Chris Boepple and Katie Drake of Little Falls, Eric Boepple and Tim Boepple (Melissa) of Wilmington, NC; siblings, Daniel Haberek (Deb) of NC, Jackie Johnson (Jack) of Utica, Marsha Lopez (Randy) of Little Falls and Richard Haberek of Ilion; cherished grandchildren, Mason, Zackerie, Kailynn, Brayden, Veda, Brady, Casey, and Nolan; in laws, MaryAnn Looman (Frank) of FL and Charles Van Slyke (Gloria) of CT; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Haberek and Silvernail grandparents and his beloved dog, Buddi.
A service in memory of Charles will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 at 1 pm from the chapel of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131, where we will share memories and stories. Visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm, prior to the service at MVFC. Burial will be private.
