Christine L. "Chris" Egan

July 2, 1953 — January 4, 2025

Christine Lee Egan (Burton) affectionately known as Chris (71) of Salisbury Center, New York passed away peacefully at home as were her wishes on Saturday January 4th, 2025, with loving family by her side.

Chris was born on July 2, 1953, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Arden “Bucky” Burton and Alice Burton (Plato). She was educated in Dolgeville Central School. She was employed by Palatine Dye in St. Johnsville and then with Lee Dye in Johnstown for many years. After her years in the textile industry and beginning in the 1990’s, Chris worked with her husband Art and her family at a store and restaurant in Salisbury Center. In 2001, they built their own store and restaurant a few miles up the road named Covered Bridge Convenience where they worked together for many years until it was taken over by her son and daughter in-law and is still ran by them today. Through working with the public, Chris had many customers who turned into more than that and who she considered lifelong friends. She was a lover of anything her children and loved ones did including their sports, concerts, hobbies and much more. There were many years spent camping and visiting friends at the lake and Disney World trips where many family members joined her.

Chris had a big family who she loved and who loved her. She is survived by her three children, Derek (Kayla) Egan, Michael (Heather) Manchester and Robert (Jody) Manchester and her late husband’s two daughters, Lorraine (Roger) Petterson and Vicky (John) Bowdish. She had twenty five grandchildren from her children and from her late husband’s children including Butch (Lucinda) Egan, Heather Egan, Justin (Marylou) Egan, Alicia Savoie, Jason Savoie, Dale (Kristi) Gray Jr, Carrie Gray, Russell Bellinger, Hannah Bellinger, Zachary Bellinger, JP (Tammy) Bowdish, Jeannette Bowdish, Janie (Chris) Hickey, Jennifer (Greg) Young, Jessica (Jason) Castle, Ayden Egan, Addison Egan, Gregory Manchester, Kiersten Gee (Manchester), Alyson Manchester, Cameron Manchester, Austen (Brook) Manchester, Marshall Manchester, Mari Ahna Manchester and Emily Manchester. She is also survived by her brother, John (Kathie) Burton and is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins including a very special niece Stacey (Shaut) Ortlieb, who acted as a caregiver for her even through her final days.

She was predeceased by her late husband and the love of her life Arthur James Egan in 2023 whom she spent 37 years of marriage with and over 45 years together. Mr. Egan helped raise her boys, made a life with them and Chris longed to get back to him. We know he was waiting for her with open arms. She was also predeceased by her parents, Arden “Bucky” Burton and Alice Burton (Plato), her siblings, Dorann (Deb) Spofford (Burton), Lynne Shaut (Burton) and Susan Moshier (Burton) and her late husband’s son Arthur James Egan Jr and daughter, Sharon Savoie.

Chris will be remembered not only for her work ethic and drive to serve her customers but how much she loved her family and friends. There were many children who she welcomed into her home, treated as her own and tried to do as much for as she could. To say she will be missed would be an understatement for she is and will always be loved by many. Our one solace is to know she was finally reunited with the love of her life and her and Art can once again be together.

Per her wish, Mrs. Egan's funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Daniel J. Enea-Director of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (Town of Manheim), Little Falls.
