Ms. Cristine Faith Murphy, age 69, a lifelong Mohawk resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 4, 2021 at The Grand Nursing and Rehab Center, Ilion. Her passing followed a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Herkimer, Jan. 27, 1952, daughter of the late Bernard and Althea (Stevenson) Murphy and received her education in Mohawk schools, graduating with the Mohawk High School, Class of 1971. She furthered her education attending the Herkimer County BOCES LPN program and was employed with St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica at Hobart Street where she enjoyed working with the new doctor residency program. She was very active in the Mohawk community and was a proud member of the Mohawk Volunteer Fire Department, being a loyal and active member for many years. She was also a life member of the Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary as a tribute to her family's military background and enjoyed coaching Mohawk Little League in her earlier years.

Cristine loved animals, especially her late canine companion, Jameson She enjoyed many years supporting her nephews in their sporting endeavors, which she considered her favorite hobby. Cristine was an avid Jets fan and Yankee fan, steering her youngest nephew to also be loyal to the Jets team. Her favorite moments were spent in the presence of her family and especially her only niece, Emily.

Survivors include her close and devoted siblings, Douglas Murphy and wife Donna of Mohawk, David Murphy and wife Phyllis of Portland, CT and nephews, Michael Murphy and wife Jacqueline of New Hartford and their son, Ryan Conor, Patrick Murphy and companion, Brianne of Mohawk and Kyle Murphy of Utica; a niece, Emily Murphy of Portland, CT; several aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider and send memorial offerings to the Alexander Hose Co #1 Mohawk or to the Herkimer County Humane Society.

A heartfelt thanks is offered to the staff at the Grand Nursing and Rehab Center, Ilion for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to memorial visitation on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 11am to 2 pm at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls, 315-508-5131. A celebration of life service will take place at 2 pm, also on Saturday, Sept. 18th, at MVFC with Chaplain Kenneth Palmer, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family in Mohawk Cemetery.

Members of the Mohawk American Legion Auxiliary will gather in a body at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 18th at 1 pm to conduct their service. In addition to a fire department honor guard, members of the Mohawk Fire Department and Auxiliary will conduct their service at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 pm.
