Donna May Bailey, age 72, of West Main Street, Ilion, left this world peacefully on Saturday morning, February 12th, 2022 at the St. Luke's Campus of the Mohawk Valley Health System, New Hartford, after a long battle with COPD. She was a fighter, fighting right to the very end.
She was born on December 17, 1949, daughter of the late Percy and Lucille Bailey Plato and educated in local schools. She was a stay at home mom until her children were of age and then she went out into the workforce, working at Lasalle's, Little Falls and also with the Herkimer ARC.
Survivors include her beloved family; her daughter and significant other, Tina Fort and Edward Valentine of Frankfort; her son and significant other, Paul Failing and Adirenne Fiume DePietro of Little Falls; her cherished grandchildren, Abigail Burns and husband Derek, Morgan Fort, Brett Fort and her great granddaughter, Bryanna Burns; along with her adored step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Sue Phillips, Earlene Casler, Diane Bailey, Vicky Failing; brother, Tony Frasier along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Marlene White, Winnie Shibley and Lori Daley.
Donna was a loving, caring and helpful woman to anyone she met. She didn't have a selfish bone in her body. Her love of life and of her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter was unremarkable. She loved the sounds of nature and the warmth of the sun and will be missed by many. The simplest pleasures in life brought her tremendous joy.
Donna and her family's care has been placed in the trust of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls (corner of Bidleman Road), 315-508-5131. A graveside ceremony will take place on Sat., June 4, 2022 commencing at 10 am at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. There are no calling hours.
