Dorothy F. (Masle) Becker

A lifelong Little Falls resident, Mrs. Dorothy F. (Masle) Becker, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 1, 2023 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.  She was 101 years young.

Dorothy was born on May 2, 1922 in Little Falls, daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Urh) Masle and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, Little Falls.  Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony with John H. Becker on Jan. 3, 1942, until the passing of Mr. Becker on June 15, 1992, a blessed union of 50 years. 

Dorothy dedicated her life to taking care of her family and tending to their needs.  One of her favorite pastimes was bowling.  She excelled at it and never passed up a moment to tease her son in law, Jim, about her higher score.   She also enjoyed baking and everybody loved the pies she made. She enjoyed crocheting, the outdoors, tending to her flowers and going to camp.  Above all, Dorothy loved to be with family and friends and simply loved being around other people. She was graced with a sociable and witty disposition, and many people admired her for that. She was faithful, modest and respectful to all from the first introduction. Dorothy’s affection touched many, especially her grandchildren who enriched her life and adored their tender and loving grandma. She was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include her devoted family; her daughter, Joyce Kaufman and husband Jim of Little Falls; cherished grandchildren, Erin Andrews and husband Marcus and their daughter, Morgan of Clifton Park and Diana Kaufman of N. Syracuse; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Stanley and Frank Masle.

Kindly consider memorial offerings in Dorothy’s name to Valley Health Residential Facility or a charity of your choice.  The family offers their gratitude to the entire staff at both Valley Health Services and Valley Residential for all of the kindness and compassion offered during her stay. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Dorothy’s Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 11 am on Tuesday, December 5 from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls with the Rev. Brian Slezak, Pastor, officiating, assisted by the Resurrection Committee.  Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest.   An hour of visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, from 9:15 until 10:15 am at the Little Falls owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls, 315-508-5131 with a Transfer Prayer to start at 10:30.
