Earl R. Sonny Stock

November 14, 1943 — December 2, 2016

Little Falls, NY-Mr. Earl R. “Sonny” Stock, age 73, a lifelong Little Falls resident, retired Assistant Chief (Little Falls Fire Dept.), passed away on Friday morning, December 2, 2016 at Fulton Center for Rehabilitation, Gloversville, NY.   Earl was born on November 14, 1943 in Herkimer, son of the late Earl E. and Dorothy K. (Lehman) Stock.  He graduated from Little Falls Central School in 1961.  He made his home in Little Falls, never leaving and proudly gained the friendship and respect of several Little Falls community members.  On May 23, 1964 at St. Mary’s Church, Little Falls, Earl was united in marriage with Barbara Duane and they enjoyed a union of 52 years.  Family and friends came first in Earl’s life as proven by his over 30 years of fire service.  He served with the city of Little Falls as a firefighter starting in 1968, attaining the rank of Assistant Fire Chief in 1986.  He retired in 1999 after 30 years of dedicated service.   A dedicated community servant, Earl was a member of the Little Falls Elks’s Lodge #42 and was very active with the Little Falls Masonic Lodge and Shriners.  Earl was extremely proud to have instructed the Hunter Safety Course in Herkimer County for over 30 years.  In his spare time, Earl was an avid reader especially books about local and national history.  Earl was extremely handy always putting his talents to work for anyone that asked and even those who did not ask.  He was truly the “good guy” and gained the respect of many in Little Falls and the Mohawk Valley. Survivors include his devoted family; his wife Barbara of Gloversville and their daughter Theresa Stock and her daughter Alexandra.  He is also survived by a sister, Sandra Calafrancesco and husband Roy; nephews, Roy Calafrancesco and wife Jacqueline and Robert Calafrancesco and wife Brenda and their son, Kaden, all of Little Falls. In respecting Earl’s wishes there are no scheduled calling hours or funeral services.  Cremation has taken place under the caring guidance of Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care, 5860 State Route 5, between Little Falls and Herkimer (next to St. Mary’s Cemetery), 508-5250.  If you would like to share a memory of Earl or offer your condolences, please click to the left.  The family offers their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered their support during Earl’s illness and passing.
