Mr. Edward P. Nitka, age 85, of Ephrata, PA passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Sitrin Healthcare, New Hartford.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1938, in Pennsylvania, son of the late Edward M. and Philomena P. (Koloski) Nitka and educated in Pennsylvania schools. Edward served with the US Army and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage with Catherine V. Burns who passed away in 2008. He was a computer engineer for UNIVAC/Unisys and following retirement, drove for Schneider Trucking in PA. He was also employed with Walmart in the Sporting Department. Edward enjoyed hunting, fishing and gun collecting. His favorite hobby was being with his family.
Survivors include his children, Mary Ann Reska and husband Robert of Schuyler, Edward Nitka of New Oxford, PA, Joanne Nitka of Herkimer and Michael Nitka and wife Tiffany of Ilion; grandchildren, Charles Goldstein (Kayla), Christopher Reska (Lisa), Morgan Sheppard (Tyler), Kyle Nitka, Catherine Holt, Robert Holt (Kirsten), Matthew Holt and Ryan Holt, Michael Nitka and Annabelle Nitka; great grandchildren, Briella Goldstein, CJ Goldstein, Benjamin Sheppard and Avery Holt along with several extended family members. Also surviving are his hunting buddies, Randy Bierly and Gordon Brandt and James Beech.
The family would like to offer their gratitude to Dr. Chase and the staff at Sitrin Healthcare for their kindness and compassion. Services will be held at a later date at the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Pennsylvania. The US Army will offer military honors as a tribute to Ed's service to our country.
