Eleanor Mae "Ellie" Buckley, 95, began her everlasting rest on October 20, 2023.

Ellie as she was affectionately known, was born on July 1, 1928 in Canajoharie, NY daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Wells) McCaffery.  A skilled seamstress, a devout Catholic, a reading teacher at St. Mary's Academy and longtime Little Falls resident, she will be missed by all.  Mrs. Buckley was cherished by her many family members and friends who knew her as “ Gag or Gagee".

Survivors include her children, Joseph R. Buckley and wife Gina of Hinckley Lake, Corie Luppino and husband Mike of Little Falls, her cherished grandchildren, Karly M. Torres and husband Orlando, Nicholas J. Luppino, Michael J. Luppino, Tracey Jones and husband Eric, Justin Rathbun and wife Melissa, Kayla Meyer; adored great grandchildren, Giovanni J. Torres, Joshua and Alicia Jasewicz, Christian Jasewicz, Taylor Rathbun, Caden Rathbun, Austin Meyer and Addison Meyer, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Buckley in 1995, and by many Buckley/McCaffery family members.  She continued to have a special bond with her sister in law, Beverly McCaffery of Windsor, NY.

Ellie was a devoted member of the Holy Family Parish in Little Falls, and a member of its Rosary Society.  She also was a member of the Little Falls Historical Society and an avid supporter of her grandchildren's athletics.

She was a simple and kind woman who loved telling her childhood stories growing up in Salisbury, NY.  Eliie was also very passionate about decorating her home for every holiday and proud of her Irish heritage.  Her favorite place of all was staying at their camp at Hinckley Lake.

The family is endlessly grateful to her very special niece, Kathy Rouse and husband Dennis, her neighbors and friends, especially Linda LaValla, Richard and Beverly Alwine, The Brand Family, The Wind Family, and Francine Baumeister. Also all those who stopped for a visit, brought some treats or had a cup of Irish Tea with her. A special thank you to the staff of Valley Health Services, Herkimer.

Her grandchildren have picked the following organizations if you would like to contribute in Eleanor's memory:  Little Falls Varsity Baseball, Business Office, 15 Petrie St., Little Falls, NY 13365, Little Falls Historical Society, 319 S. Ann St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to Pause 4 All Paws Animal Rescue, PO Box 846, Little Falls, NY 13365.  There are no public services.  The family will gather privately to say goodbye at St. Bridget Cemetery, Town of Salisbury.  Her wishes were pre-planned under the direction and care of the Little Falls owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls, 315-508-5131.

Dear Mom, I honored your strong Irish wishes.  “No picture of me when I was young and no long obituary”.  You were my first and forever best friend, hero and angel.  Your compassion and love for life is very evident in each of your grandchildren.  I am so proud you are my mom and so honored to be called your daughter.  Your special friend at Valley Health said something so true, "thank you for sharing your mom with us”, I love you forever,

Corie.
