Eleanor M. Virkler

Mrs. Eleanor M. Virkler, age 91, of West Winfield/llion, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, at The Grand Nursing Home in llion.

Eleanor was born in Lowville, NY on July 31, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Victoria (Matuzczak) Bandych. Eleanor was raised in Lowville and was a graduate of Lowville Academy. On June 19, 1954, she was united in marriage to her husband, Frank A. Virkler, for 57 years until his passing in 2012.

Mrs. Virkler is survived by her children, Mary (Virkler) and Edward Widomski of Romulus, NY; Richard Virkler and Terry (Scalise) of Herkimer, NY; Donald Virkler of Plymouth, MA; and Susan (Virkler) and David Robinson of West Winfield, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexander Virkler, RJ Virkler, Richard Virkler Jr., Kyle Virkler, Christopher Widomski, Jasmine Tatel, Amanda Robinson, Sarah Robinson and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Helen Keohane and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Frank, son, Robert (Turk) Virkler, 2 great grandchildren; her parents; and her brothers, Stanley Bandych: Leo Bandych; and James Bandych.

A spring interment will be held at the Croghan Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Croghan, NY at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, Little Falls, 315-508-5131.
