A lifelong Little Falls resident, Mrs. Ellen Louise Blumberg, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 29, 2023 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She had the love and support of her cherished family at her side, when her passing occurred.
She was born on June 13, 1942, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Ellis and Beatrice (Cool) Hadcock and received her education in Stratford, New York. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Blumberg on Oct. 2, 1964 in Middleville, a loving and devoted union of forty two years until the passing of Mr. Blumberg on December 21, 2006. Ellen was a past member of the Little Falls Lady Elk’s.
Ellen had a gentle nature, kind soul and a reputation as being a true friend to many. She was unselfish and had a large heart for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, coming from an appreciation that was innately part of her personhood. Ellen was a mother who taught her children how to grow in love and respect. Her actions showed that her family came first, and they emulated her example. Her family always knew they could come to her with any problem, and she would help them anyway she could find the right path. The legacy she left to her family will always be carried on in honor of Ellen’s kindness and compassion.
She leaves her devoted children, Christine Shepardson and husband Dean of Little Falls, Scott Blumberg and wife Karole of Dolgeville and Loreen Shepardson and husband Jon of Little Falls; her cherished grandchildren, Patrick Shepardson (Angela), Dylan Blumberg (Cassie), Alexander Blumberg (Gabriella), Joshua Keeler, Gina Gardinier (Brandan), Kourtney Sternberg, Lauren Shepardson (Devan Battisti), Danielle Blumberg, Leah Shepardson (Jackson Blask); adored great grandchildren, Ava, Noah, Willow Shepardson, Dawson and Grayson Blumberg, Aaliyah, Rylee and Zane Sternburg; her close siblings, Harold Hadcock (Trudy), Joan Stalnaker (Paul), and Mary Sponable; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gordon (Carol) Hadcock, Fannie Rumrill, Patricia Rachon and Rosemarie Hinderliter.
Close family and friends may pay their respects at the Little Falls owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131 on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 12-1:30 pm and also invited to celebrate Ellen's life following visitation (1:30 pm) at MVFC. Burial will take place privately in Salisbury Rural Cemetery. The family extends its gratitude to all those who provided so much comforting care, especially the Little Falls Ambulatory Care Team and Laboratory Team. Also, to the Bassett Surgical Care Team, ICU Hospital Unit and with a grateful heart, thank you to Dr. Andrew Griffiths, Dr. Ethan Talbot and Dr. Eunice Yang. They went above and beyond to give compassionate care. A heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and doctors who worked tirelessly to provide care.
