It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Francine Paula Conway, age 75, of Little Falls, NY, on Christmas morning, at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, NY.
Born on December 15, 1949, in Bronx, NY, to Frank and Pauline (Izbitsky) Zabski, Francine grew up immersed in the vibrancy of the Bronx. She attended Villa Maria Academy, where her love for learning blossomed, and it was during these formative years that she discovered her lifelong passion for horses. She began her work with horses at Pelham Bay Stables, a pursuit that would shape her future. Francine turned her love of nature and animals into a fulfilling life. She moved to Copake, NY, where she partnered with Dennis M. Conway, who would later become her husband, to run Windy Acres Farm. Together, they shared a love for the countryside and a dream of building a life away from the city. At just 25 years old, Francine fulfilled her dream of owning a farm, obtaining a beautiful 16-acre property in Little Falls, NY. Alongside her beloved horse, Kiki—her loyal companion of 26 years—and her devoted husband Dennis, she embraced the country life with joy and determination.
On December 31, 1974, Francine and Dennis married, beginning a 40-year union filled with love, adventure, and hard work. In addition to running their farm, Francine pursued her artistic talents, establishing a business painting and selling signs which reflected her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. After retiring from her sign business, Francine immersed herself in her many passions: caring for Kiki, nurturing her garden, painting, and enjoying the slow rhythms of country living. She learned to sew, cultivated her own food, and continued to find beauty in everyday life while raising her twin girls.Francine will be remembered as a woman of deep determination, boundless creativity, and a profound connection to nature. Her artistry, love of gardening, and devotion to her horses and family left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Francine is survived by her loving daughters, Crystal Conway, Cherise Kujawski and husband Adam Kujawski; her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Odhiambo, Reagan Kujawski, and Elena Kujawski; her brother, Michael Zabski; as well as many nieces and nephews and a dear family friend, Silvanus “Jimmy” Odhiambo.
