Fred H. Myers, Jr., age 57, of Herkimer, formerly of Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, September 13, 2024, at Wynn Hospital, Utica. He had the love and support of his family at his side, when his passing occurred.
He was born on June 5, 1967, in Herkimer, son of the late Fred and Carol (Allen) Myers, Sr. and educated in Mohawk schools, graduating with Mohawk High Schools “Class of 1985”. He furthered his education while attending SUNY Oneonta where he graduated with a bachelor’s in psychology. Fred was engaged to Jennifer Humphrey whom he shared a relationship with for nearly 30 years. He began his career in public housing where he dedicated 32 years of service. His last professional employment was with the Little Falls Housing Authority as the Executive Director.
Fred enjoyed music and was a huge Kiss Fan and loved Jimmy Buffet and Joe Bonamassa. He was a tennis, soccer, and bowling coach and started playing sports at age 13. He shared a love of NASCAR and motorsports with his father. He loved grilling and smoking meat and was a master griller. He loved pets and was an active supporter of the Herkimer County Humane Society. Fred was quick witted and always one to make you laugh and brighten your day. He was an extraordinary father, brother, and family man.
Survivors include his fiancé and partner, Jennifer Humphrey of Herkimer, his children, Maeghan Myers of Herkimer, Samantha & Tyler Doerr of Clayville, his grandchildren, Alexis, Bradley, and Taylor, two siblings, Cheryl Barton and Chuck Myers, niece, Gabrielle Cochran, and nephews, Joseph Luchock,
Robert Vivacqua, and Michael Barton, and cousins, an uncle, Richard "Dick" Myers, an aunt, MaryAnn Childs, and his beloved fur babies. He was predeceased by his sister, Cynthia Myers.
A celebration of life will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Kindly consider memorial contributions in his memory to the Herkimer County Humane Society.
