George A. "Pete" Mann

January 28, 1936 — March 17, 2020

HERKIMER, NY-George A. Mann (“Pete”), age 84, of Herkimer, New York passed away on March 17, 2020 with his loving daughters holding his hands.

He is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Carol Mann. He is also predeceased by his parents, Florence and Albert Mann; his siblings Lois Mann Jacobs, Geraldine Mann Suchadolski, Margaret Mann, Edward Mann, Douglas Mann and his son-in-law Gary Quade.

He isn’t truly gone. He lives on in the people who loved him so very much, including his loving daughters, Corinna and Debi, his son-in-law, Pete, his devoted grandchildren, Peter (“PJ”), PJ’s wife Sam, Nicole and Sarah and his siblings, Gloria, Marlene and Bucky and many many nieces and nephews.

Pete was a man who loved pocket t-shirts and coffee with everything. He was an old-fashioned family man who told everyone that his wife was the best thing that ever happened to him. His family was his world. He took care of his family in the best way possible - by being there for them. Something broken or needed to be fixed - he was your man. He didn’t buy his granddaughters rocking chairs, he made them; and 6 months old was certainly not too young for his grandson to ride with him on the lawn mower. He was a practical joker who was always smiling and laughing. Kids and animals loved him. He loved strawberry milkshakes, a good hot dog and his sausage and peppers were legendary. He could play the guitar and the spoons and would sing Elvis songs with his granddaughters while driving the car. He always drove.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was rarely without his veterans baseball hat.

Dad and Poppa - we love you and miss you so much. Give Amma and Gary a hug from all of us.

A memorial and celebration of his life will be scheduled in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, corner of Bidelman Rd., Little Falls has been entrusted with arrangements. Please click above to add to his online memorial.
