Glen F. Augar

DOLGEVILLE – Glen F. Augar, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side. His passing occurred after a brief illness, and he fought a courageous battle to the end.

He was born in Ilion, NY on February 21, 1934, to the late Thomas and LeElla (Budlong) Augar. He was raised in Dolgeville and attended Oppenheim-Ephratah schools. Glen enlisted in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge. Mr. Augar then went on to work for the Daniel Green Shoe Company in Dolgeville for 40 years, earning the title of Superintendent, retiring in 1998.

Glen was an avid golfer and a member of the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club and the Little Falls American Legion Post 31. He also served as a Town of Oppenheim Councilman and Fire Chief for many years. Glen was an honorable and respectful man that formed many special bonds with his friends. Glen was a hard worker his entire life and had a strong work ethic.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Augar; his daughter, Tammy (Walter) Chmielewski of Dolgeville; his son, David F. Augar of Dolgeville; his stepchildren, Lisa (George) Kretser of Ephratah and Bobbi Jo Augar and companion Andy Gadek of Deerfield; his sister, Virginia Gardner and family of Leesburg, FL; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Ragone of Long Island, Toby and Tyler Kretser of Ephratah and Dylan Rockwell of Rome; and his great-grandchildren, Dominic and Elena Ragone and Chansin Kretser.

He also leaves behind his special friends, John and Deb “Blondie” Morrison, Rick Madison, Bob “Bubba” Williams, Steve Barretta and Doug and Pam Stowell. The family would also like to thank Charles Gressler and John Pat Nagle for all their help with Glen’s care during these past few months.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Cathy “Toodles” Augar.

In keeping with Glen’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services. He will be laid to rest in Browns Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
