A long time resident of Rockton Plaza, Greg went to live his final days at the home that he had built for his family, which is the home that his daughter, son in law and grandson currently reside.

Greg was born on January 5, 1946 in Boston, MA. He was the son of Leon and Eleanor Cone. During Greg’s childhood, he lived in Chicago, IL where his love for baseball and the Chicago White Sox began. Greg relocated back to Massachusetts with his parents before moving to Fort Plain, NY. He attended Fort Plain High School where he excelled in baseball and was scouted by a professional NY baseball team.

Due to his love of the Chicago White Sox, a trip had been planned for June 8 to Yankee Stadium to attend a game between the Chicago White Sox and the Yankees which were also the same teams that were playing when he attended his first baseball game as a young boy in Chicago. He was going on the trip with his son-in-law, Manny and grandson Manuel. Greg played in various softball and basketball leagues. He frequently attended his daughters sporting events as well as his grandson’s football and volleyball games. He also was a fan of the local high school baseball teams and was sure to be present for Sectional play-offs.

Greg was employed by various trucking companies namely New England Motor Freight, JB Hunt, Associated Textiles, and Wonder Bread as a tractor trailer driver. He drove cross country for many years, having traveled to all lower 48 states. Greg was also employed as a tractor trailer driving instructor by a firm located in Schuyler, NY. Most recently, Greg was employed by Big Time Transportation which was a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Greg also was a past tenant commissioner at Rockton Plaza.

Greg leaves his three loving daughters, Shauna Cone, Laura Cruz and husband Manny, Ellen Cone, and his beloved grandson, Manuel Cruz, all of Little Falls. Greg also leaves the mother of his daughters, Elizabeth Pritchard and husband Rod of Little Falls. Greg will also be missed by his sisters, Holly Simons and husband Ralph of Wolfeboro, NH, Christine McGuire and husband Russ of Bradford, MA, and Sherry Wendling of Cleveland, TN and several special nieces and nephews. Greg also leaves a special friend, Cooper Busch and his friends at Rockton Plaza.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Eleanor Cone, his in-laws, Robert and Helen Cotter, brothers-in-law, Eddie and Jimmy Cotter and nephew, Jim Zysk.
