Little Falls, NY-Thomas F. "Tom" Hyla, III, age 40, of the town of Manheim, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 22, 2017, in Mohawk, NY. He was born December 8, 1977, in Little Falls, son of Thomas F. (Beverly) Hyla of Ilion and Audrey Murray and husband George of Little Falls. He received his education in Little Falls schools where he graduated from Little Falls High School, “Class of 1996” and went on to attend Herkimer County Community College. He was currently employed as a contractor with AAC Contracting Company of Rochester, NY. Tom was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and working in the woods with his father. He loved dogs and especially his canine companion Aries. Tom was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking. Most of all, he will be remembered as a man with a huge heart who always put the needs of others before his own. He will be sorely missed by his cherished family and friends and by all his hunting buddies up on the land. Survivors include his devoted family, his parents, Tom and Bev of Ilion and Audrey and George of Little Falls; his brother, Michael Hyla of Ohio; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Tretola of Little Falls; step brother, Daniel Rotondi and step sister, Elizabeth Taft; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins including his special nephew, Robert (Robbie) Taft. Also surviving are many friends, too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Thomas F. Hyla, Sr. and H. Jeanne Hyla and maternal grandfather, Michael Tretola. A memorial mass will be held on Sat., April 28, 2018 at 10 am from Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, where his memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Terence Healy, followed by burial at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. There are no calling hours.
