James H. "Jamie" "Whit" Whitcomb
Little Falls, New York

James H. "Jamie" "Whit" Whitcomb, age 61, of Ashe Road, town of Manheim, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, March 25, 2021 at Little Falls Hospital. His passing followed a 12-year courageous battle with cancer with the love and support of his nieces, by his bedside.

He was born on July 25, 1959, in Little Falls, son of the late James and Nancy (Clingen) Whitcomb and was a graduate of Little Falls High School, Class of 1977. He furthered his education attending Clarkson University and received a bachelor's degree in engineering. His last professional employment was with the Rome Griffiss Air Force Research Lab holding the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer. He worked diligently and gave so much of himself to accomplish what he desired with strength, hope, and confidence.

Jamie was very active in the community and enjoyed helping others, especially those with the Relay for Life making many close friends throughout the years and helped support friends going through the same situation that he was in. He belonged to the Little Falls Elk's Lodge #42, Sons of the American Legion Post #31, Salisbury Ridge Runners, Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club and cherished his times at "Red Camp", his absolute favorite place to be.

Jamie had an affinity with nature, was an avid outdoorsman and loved snowmobiling, riding his wheeler with his beloved dogs, hunting and his weekends at camp. He was a huge NASCAR fan, hosting yearly NASCAR parties and truly loved going to the races with his buddies. He was a hockey fan and loved the Boston Bruins.

Jamie was the most fun-loving and full of life individual known for his boisterous laugh and his quick-witted jokes and comebacks. He made friends everywhere he went and kept them for life. With a smile on his face, Whit was a happy, helpful, hospitable soul and the life of the party who will be sorely missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. In retrospect, Jamie had a will to win, and he fought to the very end, never complaining once. He was a caring, loving person and a gentleman at heart; his thoughtful acts of kindness were unsolicited and sincere. Whit's core values were focused on taking care of his family and friends, which were rooted from unconditional love, loyalty, and strong bonds that were instilled in him at an early age.

Survivors include his loving family; his siblings, K. Bruce Whitcomb and wife Robin, Elizabeth Gillette, Thomas Whitcomb and wife Joyce, Martha Pawluk and husband Peter, all of Little Falls; cherished nieces and nephews, Melodie Day, Alyese Simpson, Tom Panko, John Gillette, Katie and Paige Whitcomb, Jennifer Lawrence, Scott Chrisman, Chad Garlock, Pete and Chris Pawluk; and a special great God nephew, Carter. Also surviving are his aunt Charlotte and uncle Grant Phillips of Little Falls. It would be remiss to not mention his adored canine companions, Percy and Tuukka.

The Whitcomb family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Little Falls Hospital who were so kind and caring to Jamie and his family. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable. A special thank you to Dr. Butala and the Roswell Cancer Center for their excellent and professional care offered to Jamie throughout his entire battle. For those wishing to remember Jamie, please consider contributions in his name to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, www.roswellpark.org/giving/ways-give/donate .

You'll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars.
