Jane M. Janie DePietro Scott

June 25, 1953 — July 14, 2017

Mexico, NY/Topeka, Kansas-Jane M. "Janie" Scott, 64, of Topeka KS and formerly Mexico, NY passed away on  Friday, July 14, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born on June 25, 1953 in Gloversville, NY, the daughter of John and Celestia (Hadcock) DePietro. Jane grew up in Herkimer, NY surrounded by many family members whom she treasured dearly. Jane loved sharing childhood stories, usually starting with “Grandma used to say” and recipes from “Grandma Piper”. She graduated from Herkimer High School with the "Class of 1971" and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herkimer. On November 4, 1978 Jane married her childhood friend, Thomas L. Scott in Atchison, KS. They moved to Mexico, NY where she attended Oswego County Boces and received her training as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Janie leaves many friends at St. Joe’s Hospital in Syracuse. Survivors include her beloved  husband, Thomas Scott of Topeka, her beloved children; Gary Bouck of Wamego, Rochelle Thompson of Topeka, KS, Greg Scott and Robert Scott of Topeka, KS; her beloved siblings Rose Mary Brownrigg of Frankfort, NY, John DePietro of Wakefield, RI and Joseph DePietro of Virginia Beach, VA. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ryan Thomas Scott and her parents, Celestia and John DePietro. A memorial service was held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel in Topeka, KS. Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care, 5860 State Route 5 (near St. Mary's Cemetery) between Herkimer and Little Falls has been entrusted with Janie's local funeral arrangements and their are no services in New York.  In her loving memory, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604.
