Jean Ann (Capece) Famulare

April 9, 1942 — May 28, 2023

Little Falls, New York

Jean Ann Famulare, Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Pentecost, Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Little Falls Hospital.  She was 81 years old.

Born in Little Falls on April 9, 1942, Jean was the daughter of Dominick and Ann Capece.  She was raised in Little Falls and Richfield Springs, graduated from Richfield Springs High School and attended culinary school at Mohawk Valley Community College. Employed by Beech Nut, Remington Arms, and H&R Block as a tax preparer, she was a hard worker.  In 1971, she and her brother, Alan Capece opened 2Capece’s Pizzeria, which became a local icon.

Jean was married to Joseph A. Famulare and had two sons, Joseph A. Famulare Jr. and Dominick F. Famulare.

Jean loved to cook and the traditional family recipes she passed to her boys and her daughters-in-law will continue to be passed down for generations.   Traveling and gambling at the casinos made her happy and when she won, she would often share the wealth with those who needed it.  An avid reader and fan of old movies, she was always learning new things and sharing her new knowledge with everyone around her.

Jean loved her family. She worked factory jobs to provide for her boys and always made sure they had vacations to remember. When the grandchildren came along, she continued that tradition.  She did not discriminate in her love for children and became an “adopted” grandma for many friends and family members.  Her love of fun and laughter made her as big a child as those in her charge.  Her daughters-in-law were treated as if they were her own and she became a second mother to both.

Committed to her Christian faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Jean prayed the rosary daily, had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and always prayed for Divine Mercy for those she loved.

Jean is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph A. Famulare Jr. and Christine, Dominick F. Famulare and Karla Famulare, brother, Alan Capece, grandsons, Mitchell, Maximilian, Mason and John Famulare, nephews and nieces, DeAnn Capece, Alan Capece, David (Cathy) Capece, Bryan (Tina) Capece, Craig Capece, Thomas (Kristin) Capece, Trevor (Shiney) Capece, Christopher (Kim) Capece and Mary (Jeremy) Nierman.   Also surviving her are the members of the Leskovar family, whom she treated as her own, Vic and Amy, Bernadette, Robert, Jennifer and Emily and Ella. Many dear friends also mourn her loss.  She will be dearly missed.

Beside her parents, Jean was predeceased by an unborn baby, brother and sister-in-law Dominick and Gale Capece, sister-in-law, Denise Capece and nephew, William Capece.

The family wishes to thank all the kind and compassionate caregivers at Valley Health Services, Alpine Nursing Home, Little Falls Hospital, and Little Falls Ambulance.

A funeral service for Jean will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 11am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Joseph A Famulare Jr. officiant.  Relatives and friends may pay their respects at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, June 9th from 5-7pm.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
