Joan E. Sitsy (Lebert) Farrar

June 23, 1941 — November 5, 2017

Frankfort, NY-Miss Joanie "Sitsy" Lebert-Farrar, 76, of Frankfort, passed away on November 5, 2017 in the loving arms of family, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center in Ilion. Joanie was born on June 23, 1941 in Utica, NY, daughter of the late Della Locash and granddaughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Soriano) Locash.  She lived in Syracuse for many years, after residing in Las Vegas.  During her time in Las Vegas, she was employed by the Riviera.  She transferred from the Las Vegas, Syracuse, to the Herkimer Walmart.   Those who knew "Sitsy" would know that her and Della were in their glory living in Las Vegas.  They loved being at the casino especially playing Bingo.  Whether it be Sunday dinners or in charge of the cooking for holidays she was always at her happiest.  She loved cooking for her family and friends.  When she was not with family, Sitsy could be spotted at the casino either on the dance floor or at a slot machine.  Joanie was also her mothers care-giver for the last several years of Della's life.  Joanie never complained of all the care she had to give her mother, as that was exactly what she wanted to do.  Della was her best friend.  Joanie had a huge heart, especially when it came to the children in her life.  When Sitsy was around, the kids were getting spoiled and definitely not disciplined in front of her.  She truly loved her family.  She was also involved in the ladies auxiliary at the St. Francis in Frankfort.   She was a kind, sweet, witty and a generous soul.  Her family will never forget all the wonderful memories.  Joanie leaves behind a brother, Butch Lebert and his wife Cookie, cousins, Beverly, Tony, Johnny, Larry, Shelly and many more.  She also leaves an aunt, Mary Simonelli, Uncle Pete Locaccio; loving nieces and nephews, Mark, Laurie, Joe, Erica, Paul and Kassi.  Great nieces and nephews, C.J., Olivia, Ellie, Joe, Axl and Lilly.  She leaves behind loving friends, Kathi, Kelly, Kevin, Terry, Brenda, Pauline, Rachel and Nancy.  Joanie was preceded in death by her loving companion, Enzo. Joanie's family would like to thank Catholic Charities of Ilion, the 6th floor staff at St. Luke's and the 2nd floor staff of Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion and the Dr. Razia staff of Slocum Dixon for all the care they showed Joanie the last four years while she fought multiple myleoma.  There are no calling hours.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church, Frankfort St., Frankfort in the spring of 2018 at a time to be announced.  She will be laid to rest in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Kindly send memorial offerings  to Catholic Charities, 61 West Street, Ilion, in her memory.  Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care , 5860 State Route 5 (near St. Mary's Cemetery), between Herkimer and Little Falls, 315-508-5250 has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.  To light an online candle or add to her online memorial, click to the left.
