Mohawk, NY-Mr. John L. Eaton, age 74, of Mountainview Lane, currently a resident at the Grand Nursing and Rehab, Ilion, passed away in the presence of his son, on Sunday evening, November 18, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He was born on October 22nd, 1944 in Utica, son of the late Raymond F. and Arlene L. (Cassaw) Eaton and educated in West Canada schools. John was raised in the town of Norway. He joined into military service enlisting on March 5, 1966 with the Army and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1971 serving during the Vietnam Conflict. John was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was last employed with the Utica Observer Dispatch as an Independent Contractor and worked for the newspaper for thirty plus years. He was also employed with Union Fork and Hoe, Frankfort. Survivors include his beloved family; his wife with whom he shared over fifty years with, Patricia Edwards of Mohawk; his son, Patric Eaton of Mohawk; a daughter, Tammy Wilcox of Herkimer; siblings, Howard Eaton and wife Debbie of Norway, James Eaton of the town of Grant, Raymond Eaton of Ilion and Rhea Zabrey of Florida; cherished grandchildren, June, Crystal, Karlee, Danielle, Josh and Matt; great grandchildren, Cadence, Payton, Brantley, Mia, Trinity and Abel; many nieces, nephews and cousin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy. The family will receive relatives and friends at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidelman Road), between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131 on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 5-7 pm. A service and celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday following calling hours at 7 p.m. Following the service, the US Army will offer military honors. Spring interment will take place at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls.
