John Lewis McCaw

Mohawk, NY-Mr. John Lewis McCaw, 81, of Oregon Road, town of German Flatts, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He was born on April 15, 1936 in Mohawk, son of the late George and Helen (Lowell) McCaw and educated in Mohawk schools.  He was united in marriage with  Rosemary Schumaker with whom he enjoyed a blessed and loving union of 57 years with.  John was last employed with Remington Arms, Ilion and retired after over 30 years of dedicated service.  Mr. McCaw was a US Veteran, serving with the Army and was honorably discharged. John was a wonderful artist and was a talented drawer.  In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, his garden, feeding the birds, hunting and fishing.   Above all else, John treasured the happy times he spent with his loved ones.  He was a very hard worker who always provided for his family.   John along with his wife were devout members of New Life Church, Herkimer.   Survivors include his loving wife, Rosemary at home; a cherished son, Randy McCaw and wife Cindy of Ilion; his cherished grandchildren, Randy, Rachael, Lucas and Marcus, Cassandra, Johnny, Alex and Scarlett; adored great grandchildren, Dakota, Donald, Ethan, Michael, Brayden, Jacob, Lilly and Paul, Emily, Lucy and Penny Rose and a son in law, Bob Moynihan. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Jean Moynihan and by a son, John Lewis McCaw, Jr.  The family would like to offer a special thanks to their friend, Phyllis Markwardt for her care and concern. In keeping with his wishes, there are no calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Daniel J.
