Judith A. Walawender

October 12, 1956 — December 25, 2025

Herkimer

Judith A. “Judy” Walawender, age 69, a lifelong resident of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica.

Born on October 12, 1956, Judith was the daughter of the late Andrew F. and Carmella B. (Sweet) Walawender. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate from Herkimer High School.

Throughout the years, Judy worked for various local businesses, including Union Fork & Hoe, the ARC (where she was proficient in sewing) and in the environmental services department at Valley Residential in Herkimer where she was a housekeeper. Judy enjoyed her job and she easily made friends with her clients and co-workers alike.

Aunt Judy was beloved by her nieces and nephews and most of their best memories were of spending time outdoors together. She loved kayaking and fishing and truly spent her happiest of times on the water catching fish. She was a kind and gentle person who loved her family deeply.

Judy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Walter “Wally” and Dolores “Dee” Walawender of Herkimer; her brother-in-law, Harold Warner, of Ilion; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, with special mention of Melissa Balch, whom she shared a special bond with.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Donna Warner on October 3, 2022; and her nephew, Scott Eysaman on May 16, 2024.

Judy’s family will gather, together, in the spring to celebrate her life in a Graveside Service at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest with her parents.
