June Catherine Kitty (Keddell) Hadcock

June 9, 1928 — July 10, 2017

Herkimer, NY-June Catherine "Kitty" Keddell Hadcock, age 89, of Folts Street, entered into eternal life peacefully on Monday morning, July 10, 2017, at Little Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 9, 1928 in Stoneco, NY (a stones-throw from the city) daughter of the late William J. and Martha (Padgham) Keddell and received her education in Herkimer schools.  She was an extremely proud and active member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer where she sang in the choir for numerous years and graduated from St. Francis school, and the HHS “Class of 1946”.  She attended mass regularly and was a devout Catholic.  For many years, she waited on tables as a waitress throughout the Valley and was an Irish soprano at many weddings, funerals and various events. She formerly held employment with FW Woolworth Co., Herkimer as a clerk from 1942-1946 and Remington Rand from 1946-1951.  Many will remember Kitty as the “chrystal voice” and  switchboard operator with Herkimer Memorial Hospital where she was employed from 1964, until June 15, 1990, when she retired. She was also a proud member of the Columbiettes in Herkimer.  Faith was of the utmost importance to Catherine and she found much comfort and peace in daily prayer.   “Kitty” as many affectionately knew her by, spread the warmth and comfort of her smile and personality to all those who were fortunate enough to have met her. Kitty was a woman of courage and constraint, and she faced life’s adversities with fortitude and forbearance. She was a wonderful mother who provided for her loved ones and graciously gave them the values they would need in life. Through her guidance, they became wonderful parents and good, productive people. Kitty did not have a bad thing to say about anyone and saw the best in everyone who came into her life.   Survivors include her devoted and beloved family; her children, Martha Marriott of N. Syracuse, Brigid Jones who resided with her mother in Herkimer, James E. Hadcock and wife Mona Lisa of Burnt Hills, and Frances Cunningham (Jeff) Hurteau of Herkimer; a brother, Joe (Betty) Keddell of Oneonta and sister-in-law Ruth Keddell of Naples, Florida; cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Erin and Drew, Brigid Kate and Luke, Jesse, Joshua, Travis, Connor, Catherine, Brianne, Tyus, Michael, adored great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kaelyn, Eliza, Brayden, Sasha, Jessie Jr., Weston, August, Contessa, Sadie, Addison, Evangelina and Giovani with two more expected by years end. Step grandchildren Giovani, Jocelyn, Vanessa, Tristan, Rogerio, Jorge, Jacqueline, Andrew; Micah and Christian and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Francis (Ruth)  Keddell, Robert Keddell, Lola (George) Endres, Rita  (Keith) Turner and Maurice Keddell who was killed in WWII, William and James Keddell (infant brothers) and by her former husband Frank W. Hadcock, and siblings, George (Eleanor) Hadcock, Celestia, (John) DiPietro, and her beloved sister-in law “Gracie” (Edward) Holleran who passed away from complications with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 40 in 1962. In keeping with Catherine’s wishes, there are no public calling hours.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 10 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer with the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor officiating.  Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest.  The family is lovingly grateful to Kitty’s home health caregiver, personal RN and daughter, Brigid for her tender love and compassionate care and for always being there for her mother.  Thank you to the kind and sensitive staff and nurses on the 3rd floor at Little Falls Hospital who were so giving of their time and tender care, especially mentioning Hope and Debi.  In lieu of floral tributes, kindly send memorial offerings in her name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or to St. Francis de Sales Regional Catholic School.  Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care, 5860 State Route 5 (near St. Mary’s Cemetery), between Herkimer and Little Falls has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. An Irish Blessing~ May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
