Karen S. Girmonde

Karen S. (Harris) Girmonde, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at Little Falls Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Karen graduated from Alfred University and started her career as a registered nurse at Little Falls Hospital for 45 years, until her retirement in 2015. She was a faithful supporter of the Little Falls Food Pantry for many years.

Karen was an avid reader, joyed gardening, zooming with her friends, telling her daughter and son in law to stop shopping, and catching up on life every Wednesday with her sister, Robin. Popular topics included her astonishment on the recent prices of everything and all the activities everyone was involved with, and how the world was going to hell in a hand basket- her favorite saying. She spent as much time as possible snuggled on the couch reading to Murphy, doing puzzles on the floor, wondering how it was possible for Murph and Maeve to get out every toy in the house with in minutes, and how so much yogurt could end up on the floor. Murphy thought the world of her Grammie (her birthday twin) and knew she was the bestest, the two shared a special bond. She had an infectious laugh that was like no other.

Survivors include her daughter, Brook and son in law Brendan Fagan of Little Falls, her beautiful grandchildren, Murphy James, Maeve Brooks, name sake- Mirielle Sky, and Madison; her sister, Robin Sadlon and husband Al, sister in law, Mary Harris, brother in law, Nghia Vo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends she left behind include Mary Hyla, Linda Cecconi, Kathy (Crash) Walrath, Linda Traverni, Barbara Stalnaker, and Francis Teall. She was predeceased by her siblings Susan Vo and Andrew Harris.

There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 from 12-3 pm at the Little Falls Elks Lodge, for all friends and family.
