Karen Edith Sauer, age 79, a longtime Mohawk resident, passed away early Sunday morning, October 24th, 2021 at Alpine Nursing and Rehab Center, Little Falls. Karen was a 31-year communication specialist/dispatcher with the New York State Police.
Karen was born on Jan. 1st, 1942 in Cherry Valley, daughter of the late Kenneth and Martha (Pierce) Smith. For many years she and her husband resided on Church Street in Mohawk. She was united in marriage with John S. Sauer, a union of 37 years, until his passing on June 9, 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, Jennie Harrington, Julia Twaddle, and Joanne Stephanie Sauer; one son, John Stephen Sauer; five grandsons, Roger and Kenneth Robinson and Alistair, Marshall, and Garion Twaddle; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private graveside service will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer at, the convenience of her family. In keeping with her wishes, there are no calling hours. Karen and her family's care has been placed in the trust of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls (corner of Bidleman Road), 315-508-5131.
