New Hartford, NY-In memory of Karlton S. Kaler, New Hartford, New York - born July 1937, and deceased April 2018; son of William M. and Harriet H. Montgomery Kaler. Surviving members of his family include his beloved and cherished wife, Patricia A., with whom he shared fifty-four years of joyful marriage; two sons: Ron W., of Palm Bay, Florida, and Jeremy M. along with his wife, Laurianna of Utica, New York; and three cousins: Judy Ebling and her husband Dwight, of Long Meadow, Massachusetts; Lucy Grant and her husband John, of Durham, North Carolina; and James Kaler of Delray Beach, Florida. Moving from Michigan in the 60's, Karlton was employed at General Electric Corporation as an electronic technician, and then later in the same occupation at Mohawk Data Sciences. Karlton was a skilled house painter and also enjoyed employment under Ray Evans and Sons Company. Karlton had many sterling qualities such as resilience, which was manifest by his overcoming polio as a youth, and later recovery from a stroke,and a serious fall from a ladder, and finally by his courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. A man who loved the outdoors, Karlton loved to go camping with his family, spend time in his vegetable garden, or graze through the hedges of raspberries at his family home in New Hartford, New York. Karlton was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1970, and was known to be steadfast in his ministry, a loving husband and father for his children, and a most hospitable friend to many in the congregation which he displayed by regularly welcoming them into his home. The family welcomes those who would like to attend the Memorial for Karlton by the following arrangements on Friday, May 4, 2018: Calling hours to be held in a reserved meeting room at the Holiday Inn Utica,1777 Burrstone Road, Utica, New York; followed by a Memorial Service starting at 7:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 585 Trenton Road, Utica, New York; and concluded by a resumption of calling hours back at the Burrstone Road Holiday Inn until 9:00 p.m. Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidleman Road) between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131 has been entrusted with Mr. Kaler's funeral arrangements.
