Lawrence W. Larry Bonanni

August 10, 1919 — August 19, 2018

Little Falls, NY-Mr. Lawrence W. "Larry" Bonanni, age 99, of West Monroe Street, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2018.  His peaceful passing occurred at the Masonic Care Community, Utica.  He was the son of James and Maria (Agostini) Bonanni and born in Little Falls, on August 10, 1919. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, landing on Guadalcanal three days before his twenty third birthday and served between 1942 and 1945. Returning home to Little Falls, he was employed with the A& P Food Market for 45 years. He rekindled a Hancock Street connection with Mildred Colangelo. They fell in love and were married May 8, 1949 and they raised a family. Together they danced through 28 years of a marriage filled with love, laughter and memories and cared for each other until Millie’s passing, in 1975. Larry enjoyed bowling, bocce and golf. For 65 years he played the games with just about everyone. He cooked dinners on Friday night at the Decarlo Staffo Post for many years which was enjoyed by many. Mr. Bonanni is survived by his children; Larry (Edria) Bonanni of Jamesville, New York, daughters; Pamela (Edwin)Falk, of Lyons Falls, NY; Laura (Clark) Sanford of Margaretville, New York, Jane (Henry) Verri of Little Falls, grandsons, Ray (Holly) Falk of Beaver Falls, NY, Joseph Bonanni of North Syracuse, NY, granddaughters, Nicole (Austin) O’Connor of Liverpool, NY, Avery Sanford of N ew York City, NY, great grandson, Tony Falk of Beaver Falls, NY and great granddaughter Madison and Emma O’Connor of Liverpool, New York. He also leaves two sisters, Mary Calicchia and Nancy Tretola both of Little Falls and brother Frank Bonanni who resides in Boston, Mass, many nieces and nephews and cousins. A special thanks to Tony Checchi, a cousin who made weekly visits that were very much appreciated and the Masonic Care Community who cared for Larry like he was family. Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations (Daniel J. Enea, owner), 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidleman Road) Little Falls, 315-508-5131 has been entrusted with Mr. Bonanni's funeral arrangements. In respecting his wishes, there are no calling hours.  A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family with Deacon Joe DeLorenzo, officiating at St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer.  Please click above to add to his online tribute.
