Linda Ann (Buckley) Sagatis

June 15, 1955 — May 2, 2018

Little Falls-On Wed. morning, May 2, 2018, the angels came and took Linda to heaven to reunite with her mother Carolyn who died on Lindas 7th birthday.  She was surrounded with the love from her family at the time of her passing. Linda was born on June 15, 1955, the daughter of Donald Buckley of Herkimer and the late Carolyn Lawyer Buckley.  On October 30, 1976, she married her high school sweetheart and soulmate, William A. Sagatis on a beautiful fall day at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls.  Linda always said her mother in heaven, handpicked Bill, because she knew what a wonderful husband and father he would be.  He fulfilled those roles more than she could have ever hoped for.  He took such excellent care of Linda during her long battle with ovarian cancer.  They were married for 41 1/2 years. Linda worked as a compassionate and dedicated nurse at Little Falls Hospital for 38 years.  But her most important role in life was to be the best wife to Bill and mother to their 2 children, William, Jr., and Steven.  Her children were the greatest blessing in the world to her.  She loved making a wonderful home for them, cooking, baking, making birthdays and holidays special.  She loved decorating for the different holidays and seasons and preparing all the traditional holiday meals for their family.  Linda had a huge love for animals, taking in many strays with Bill during their married life, providing a warm, safe, and loving home for them.  She prayed every day for help for animals in need of rescue.  Her favorite time of year was the fall.  She loved taking rides to see the beautiful colors, going to craft fairs and the cider mills.  She so looked forward to her yearly summer trips to Maine, finding much peace and solace at the ocean. She was of the Catholic religion and a member of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls.  She was so pleased when her husband Bill converted to Catholicism in April of 2011 going through the program with him.  Linda is survived by her beloved husband William at home; her cherished and adored children, William Sagatis and Sara Halstead of Little Falls, Steven Sagatis and fiance Julie Koch of Little Falls; her father, Donald Buckley, Sr., of Herkimer, step mother, Ann and Peter Higgins of Mohawk; her sisters, Amy Gabriel and husband Mark of Little Falls, Donna Schanne and husband Mark of Houston, Delaware, Kelley Chadder of Delaware and her brother Donald Buckley, Jr. and wife Terri of Herkimer; she also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was looking forward to the birth of her first grandson, William Sagatis, III, along with the marriage of her son, Steven and fiance Julie.  Also surviving are many friends, too numerous to mention, along with her beloved cat Scooter.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn; maternal grandparents, John and Hanna Lawyer and Joseph and Dorothy Buckley and step-mother, Julia Buckley. The family would like to thank everyone who supported Linda during her illness and also Dr. Samir Desai, Windy Mitchell, PA and all of the wonderful staff at Dr. Desai's office.  Also, a heartfelt thanks to Hospice Care, Inc., the staff at St. Luke's along with the Dana Farber and Roswell Park Cancer Centers.  Please consider any donations in Linda's memory to any of the local animal rescue groups, a cause so dear to her. In keeping with Linda's wishes, there are no calling hours.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a celebration of her life and Mass of Christian Burial which will take place at Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Sts., Little Falls on Friday, May 4, 2018 commencing at 11 am with the Rev. Leo Potvin, officiating.  Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where burial will take place.  Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations (Daniel J. Enea, Owner), 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidleman Road), between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131 has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements for Mrs. Sagatis.
