Mr. Lloyd "Bud" G. Gallup

Mr. Bud Gallup, 99, of Ilion, passed away, Monday, April 6, 2020, at St. Luke's Campus of MVHS, New Hartford, following a brief illness.
He was born on November 8, 1920, in Ilion, the son of the late Lloyd and Marie Yakle Gallup. Bud was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On September 22, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in World War II. Bud married the former, Catherine M. Acquaviva in Ilion. Mrs. Gallup passed away July 20th, 1989.
Bud was employed with the former Sperry Rand Corporation, Ilion. He was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church and the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post 25, Mohawk. Bud was an extremely talented woodworker. He was well know for his holiday decorations that he would hand craft out of wood and paint them to share with people in the community. Bud would make sure he always had crafts for his friends at his bank for all the holidays. In his spare time, he enjoyed having a vegetable garden, in which he was still planning this years a few weeks ago. His most fond memories come from time spent with his loving family, they were everything to him. The impressions, Uncle Bud, instilled in them will hold dear to all of his family forever. His home was where his heart was and he was always thankful for being able to be home.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephew, and his one cousin, Betty Lamphere whom will never forget Uncle Bud. Bud was predeceased by all his siblings.
Bud's graveside service WILL BE SATURDAY, AUGUST 8TH, 2020 IN ARMORY HILL CEMETERY, ILION, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Catherine, as they rejoin each other in peace. At this time Full Military Honors will be offered by the United States Army. Following the services at the cemetery, the family has extended invitation to the Morning Star United Method Church, Ilion.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Bud's memory be made to the Morning Star United Methodist Church, Ilion. Please omit all floral arrangements.
