Lorraine Frances Tyson

September 29, 1963 — April 12, 2024

Jordanville, New York

Lorraine Frances (Lambertson) Tyson, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 at the age of 60.

She was born on September 29, 1963 in Mineola, NY to John and Theresa Lambertson. She graduated from Mineola High School in 1981 and Franklin Pierce University in 1985 with a degree in Business Administration. Lorraine went on to be the manager of the Williston Park Village Pool, head lifeguard at Pierce Country Day Camp, and a teacher’s assistant at the Henry Viscardi School for over 20 years. She married her husband Glenn of nearly 35 years on May 20, 1989. Together they raised their two children, Kaitlyn and Gregory.

Lorraine was full of life with a smile that lit up a room and a heart that cared for all that she came into contact with. First and foremost was always her family. Her husband and her children were everything to her. To say she was a mama bear would be an understatement. Lorraine from a young age always wanted to be a mom and she took that job very seriously, making sure her children were always protected and loved.

Her big heart extended way beyond just her family to friends, neighbors, and the community around her. For over 20 years, Lorraine worked as a swim teacher and teacher’s assistant at the Henry Viscardi School, working with students with physical disabilities. She was known throughout the school community as someone who was dedicated, caring, and always managed to put a smile on the face of any child no matter how their day was going.

Even to the very end of her life, Lorraine was known as the life of the party. She loved decorating for every holiday, putting a balloon on the front door for every birthday, and was in the middle of the dance floor at every party. During her time at Sitrin NeuroCare, she was a staple at every Bingo game, dance class, and happy hour. Her family and friends will remember Lorraine every time they think of dachshunds, cows, the University of Alabama football team, or music from the 1960s.

Lorraine is survived by her husband Glenn, her two children, Kaitlyn and Gregory, and her son-in-law William. She is preceded in death by her father, John, her mother, Theresa, and her brother, John.

Her family would like to express all of their gratitude and appreciation for Sitrin Health Care and the NeuroCare Department staff for ensuring that Lorraine’s last few years were full of excellent care and lasting joy. The family has chosen to memorialize Lorraine in a private ceremony. In lieu of a formal ceremony and flowers, the family is asking for donations to be sent to Sitrin NeuroCare attn: Ashley Livingston c/o Lorraine Tyson at 2050 Tilden Avenue, New Hartford, NY 13413. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to the compassionate care of the locally/family owned and operated, Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville.
