Lou Ann (Williams) Day, 66, of Stratford, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 2021 at Faxton/St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, NY. At the time of her passing, she had the love and support of her loved ones by her side which followed a courageous hard fought battle with cancer.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1954 in Little Falls, daughter of the late Lyman and Ruby (Burdick) Williams and she was educated in Stratford schools. She furthered her education attending Herkimer County Community College obtaining an Associates Degree in Human Services. She started her college education the same year her beloved son, Jake, passed away as a way to support her family. Her last professional employment was with the Family Counseling Center, Gloversville, where she was a caring Domestic Violence Counselor.
Lou Ann loved browsing her Facebook wall and keeping in contact with old friends and family. She was always messaging and keeping in touch with her friends on social media. Above all, she cherished the times spent with her children and grandchildren. Her loved ones were her life. She was so proud to spend Christmas 2020 at home and with her family.
Survivors include her loving family; her children, Beth Day and wife Jo Palin of Montana, Roxanne Day of Little Falls, Forrest Day and wife Julie of Andes, NY, Christine Day and Tim of Ilion; she was the caregiver to Jerett Cameron of Saugerties; she also leaves her companion, Tim Holt with whom she resided with in Florida for ten years; one brother, Keith Williams of Newport; many cherished grandchildren and adored great grandchildren all of whom were very special to her; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Jacob who passed away on Sept. 6, 1999 and by a brother, Kevin Williams.
Lou Ann's family would like to thank the ICU staff on the 6th floor at St. Luke's Hospital for their kindness and compassion during their difficult time. Kindly consider and send memorial contributions in her name to American Cancer Society.
Lou Ann and her family's care has been placed in the trust of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidelman Road), Little Falls, 315-508-5131. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service commencing at 6 pm at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from MVFC where we will celebrate Lou Ann's life. Visitation will be held also on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in Stratford Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her son. COVID-19 regulations will be followed; temperatures will be taken, face masks will be required, social distancing will be observed and physical contact is discouraged.
