Mabel F. (Dunn) Gokey

Herkimer, NY/Bristol, TN-Mrs. Mabel Francis (Dunn) Gokey, age 96 of Bristol, Tennessee passed away, Thursday, April 05, 2018 at NHC Healthcare of Bristol after a short illness. She was born and raised in Herkimer, New York and moved to Bristol in 1995 to be with her son and family. She dedicated her life to taking care of children and was known as MeMe to many. She was loved and will be greatly missed by many.  She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Along with her parents, Clifford and Mabel Curran Dunn she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Gokey; brother, James Dunn.  She is survived by her son Robert Gokey and wife, Rose Marie; brothers, Bernard Dunn, Herkimer, NY, Donald Dunn, Mohawk NY; Grandchildren, Michele Steadman, Bristol, TN, Barbara Light and husband, John, Knoxville, TN, Wayne Gokey and wife, Mary, Oahu, Hawaii ; Four great-grandchildren and seven Nieces and Nephews The funeral Mass was  conducted at 10:00 am, Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Drake officiating. The family received friends from 9:00 – 10:00 prior to the service. She will be buried in Herkimer, NY at a time to be announced at Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anne’s Catholic School, 350 Euclid Avenue, Bristol, VA 24201.  Daniel J.
