Margaret W. (Wilcox) Margolis

Ilion, NY-Mrs. Margaret W. (Wilcox) Margolis, age 92, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, March 18, 2018 at New Homestead Nursing Home, Kew Gardens, NY. She was born in Ilion, NY on May 12, 1925 and was the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Ferguson Wilcox. Peg was a graduate of Ilion High School. She worked for many years at the Colonie Town Library.  She was the wife of William N. Margolis whom she married on July 28, 1986.  Peg was a compassionate and caring person who was loved by all. She enjoyed her trips with friends and family to Saratoga, Tanglewood and New York City for plays, the opera, the ballet and the Philharmonic Orchestra. She leaves a grandson, Arthur J. Bubb III of Halfmoon, NY, a granddaughter, Linda A. Griffith of Albany, NY, several great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Maxine Hirsch of Long Beach, NY, nephews Joseph Hirsch of Whitestone,NY, Thomas Hirsch of Great Neck, NY, and Robert Turley (Rory) of Ilion, NY, nieces Claudia Hirsch of Woodstock, NY, Sister Kathleen Turley of Providence, R.I., and Patricia Hartwell of Poultney, VT.  She was predeceased by her husband William N. Margolis, her sons, Thomas R. Bubb and Arthur J. “Jim” Bubb, her sister Doris Turley, brother Richard Wilcox and niece Carol Hart.

A graveside funeral service, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held at Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 12:30 p.m.  Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care, 5860 State Route 5 (near St. Mary's Cemetery) between Herkimer and Little Falls, 315-508-5250, has been entrusted with Mrs. Margolis' burial service.
