Marguerite Sammons

January 12, 1931 — October 21, 2024

Marguerite Sammons, age 93, a longtime Dolgeville/Oppenheim resident, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 21, 2024, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.

She was born January 12, 1931, in Oppenheim, daughter of the late Simeon and Marguerite Canfield, Sammons and educated in Oppenheim schools. She was last employed with North Hudson Woodcraft, Dolgeville as a bookkeeper.

Survivors include sister-in-law, Lois Sammons, several nieces and nephews including a devoted niece, Sharon Outtrim and husband Larry of York, SC and her adored great niece, Nicolette. She was predeceased by brothers, Frank and Louise, Sammons, Bill and Alice, Sammons, Dave Sammons , sisters, Ethel and Bill Elwood, Beverly LaBorgne, and Muriel Delucco. She was also predeceased by nephews Billy Elwood, Edward “Buzz’ LaBorgne and niece, Lorraine Sammons Krupa.

A special thanks is offered to Marguerite’s nieces, Elaine, Stewart, and Tia Stewart for their wonderful care and support. Also, they would like to thank the staff at Valley Health Services for their kindness and compassion. Donations in Marguerite’s memory can be sent to the Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St., Utica, NY 13501.

In keeping with her wishes there are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a graveside service commencing at 11 am on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Ephratah Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Daniel J. Enea-Director of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (Town of Manheim), Little Falls, 315-508-5131.
