Marie Estelle (Raiello) Volo passed away from COVID-19 on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021 at Alpine Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Little Falls, NY, where she was tenderly cared for by staff during her long battle with early-onset Parkinson’s.
Marie, 73, is survived by her son, Kevin Volo and his wife Judy Wolf; son, Christopher Volo and wife Jennifer Volo; and grandchildren Max, Cassidy, and Hannah. Marie was born in Little Falls February 14, 1947 to Tony and Rose Raiello and is predeceased by her sister Gayle Raiello.
Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She liked nothing better than to hear the latest news about her grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her sons play sports when they were young and later her grandson Max play basketball. She could always be heard cheering loudly from the stands (she was a small woman with a big voice when it came to telling the refs what was what!). She enjoyed socializing and helping people and always made friends wherever she was. She will be greatly missed. Marie’s family wants to thank the nursing staff at Alpine for all their hard work and kindness caring for her over the past few years.
There will be no services, but a memorial will be held once it is safe to do so. To honor Marie’s life, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (https://www.michaeljfox.org/donate/breakthroughs-here). And please, please protect your loved ones from COVID-19: Wear a mask and follow the social distancing guidelines. People’s lives depend on it.
Marie and her family's care has been placed in the trust Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5 (corner of Bidleman Road), Little Falls, 315-508-5131. Services will take place when pandemic conditions improve.
