It is with deep sadness that the family of Mary L. Darrow share with the world, the news of her passing. At the age of 75. Mary, formerly of Ilion NY, died in the hospital on October 4, 2024. She was finally released from the burden of chronic pneumonia and other infections.
Mary grew up as a frail little girl with a feisty nature. She was raised with her siblings by her beloved Grandmother. As a kid she developed a sweet tooth. She would happily share candy at Frankfort school to make friends. Beware her wraith if a sibling tried to take some though. As an adult, once her daughter left the nest, she would keep a large candy selection for the neighborhood kids to come and choose from.
Mary embodied a respectful well-mannered nature. She was dutiful and hard working. Following in her Grandmother Mable Streeter’s footsteps, Mary was a seamstress for most of her work life. She worked at Duofold for several years, as well as factories in Little Falls and Canajoharie. Her last place of employment was HTC in Utica. She took pride in doing a good job and always carried with her a variety of small tools for any sewing task.
She will be fondly remembered by her only child, daughter Connie Darrow, whose artwork she loved to show off and brag about. She is survived by her favorite brother, gorgeous George and Lee Streeter, her spirited younger sister Paulette Senft and husband Gary, and her brilliant youngest sibling Nancy Carney. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews that she loved to make big batches of Christmas cookies for and treasured them in her life.
Anyone that knew Mary knows how much she loved her animals. Besides cats and dogs, she also adored owls and songbirds. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Falcon Heart Rescue in Herkimer, New York.
