Mrs. Mary A. Edgett, 85, lifelong resident of the Mohawk Valley, passed away peacefully, May 26, 2020, in The Grand of Mohawk Valley, Ilion, following an illness.
She was born on January 10, 1935, in Utica, the daughter of the late William and Rose Caldwell Hool. Mary was a graduate of Mohawk High School. She married Donald Edgett in 1976 in Ilion. Mr. Edgett passed away in 2004.
Mary was employed with MDS in Herkimer for many years. She was of the Catholic faith. Her great passion of life was raising her family especially all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Susan Tripple of Frankfort, Jean Wheeler and Clarence Penree of Deerfield, Louis and Terri LaVeck of Stratford and Julie and Ibrahim Kajtezovic of Holland Patent; her step children, Robert and Lisa Edgett of Alaska, Yvonne “ Bonnie” Edgett and Lynn Ferpes of North Carolina and Roxanne Edgett of California; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Sharon Hool of Florida. Mary is also survived by her adored grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, William Hool and Beverly Whelchel, her grandsons, Joshua LaVeck, her great grandson, Jeffrey Newey and her great-great granddaughter, Gemma Vazquez.
Mary’s Celebration of Life IS POSTPONED AT THIS TIME. THE FAMILY WILL ANNOUNCE AT A LATER DATE. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Herkimer County Meals on Wheels, 109 Mary Street, Suite 1101, Herkimer, 13350, in Mary’s memory.
Mary and her family’s care have been placed in the trust of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremation, 7507 State Route 5, Town of Manheim, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville. (315)508-5131.
