Mary F. Oberle

Mrs. Mary F. Oberle, age 91, of Herkimer, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday August 4, 2025, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.

Mary was born on May 19, 1934, in Little Falls, daughter of the late Charles and Matie Francesco (Leahman). She grew up on a farm and spent much of her childhood milking cows and picking berries. She graduated from Little Falls High school. Mary then went on to marry, Lawrence J. Oberle at St. Joseph's Church in 1957. Mary worked as an Admitting Clerk at the Little Falls Hospital, and then the Herkimer Hospital, retiring early after 10 years to focus on her family. Mary loved to spend her free time helping others, she volunteered for the Red Cross and always liked to keep herself busy. Mary enjoyed walking dogs, gardening, baking and playing cards with friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Charles Francesco Jr. and her beloved husband Lawrence J. Oberle. She is survived by her son, Frank Oberle, as well as her stepbrother Salvatore Francesco (Kim), sister-in-law Rita Francesco and her nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Interment of her ashes will take place privately at the convenience of her family at the St. Mary’s Cemetery next to her husband. Mary’s family would like to thank the second-floor nurses and staff at Valley Health for their kindness and compassionate care.
