Mary Anne O'Hara

June 3, 1944 — December 21, 2023

Little Falls, New York

Mary Anne O'Hara, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at the Abraham House in Rome, New York after a brief illness.

She was born on June 3, 1944, in Utica, daughter to the late Evelyn (Fischer) and Martin G. O’Hara, Sr.  Mary Anne graduated from Utica Free Academy and began a 56-year career in advertising at the Utica Observer Dispatch.  Her commitment and passion for her work were evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.

Mary Anne will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and loving nature. Mary Anne is survived by her dear friend, Karin Riccardo and their dogs, Jeff and Gustavo and cat, Mickey.

Left to cherish her memory is Mary Anne's surviving brother, Michael J. O’Hara Sr., and his wife Marilou of Granby, CT. She also leaves behind a niece and family: Lynne Cefole, her husband Mike, and their son Andrew of West Granby, CT; nephew Michael O'Hara Jr., his wife Kim, and children Emily and Jack; and niece Jill Greene, her husband Jeff, and their children Hope and Tighe of Norwell, MA.

Many close friends held a special place in Mary Anne's heart: Tim and Sherry Stephenson, who were always there to support Mary Anne; Patricia O’Hara; Kathie Militello; Kathy Schavoni; and Sharon Smith.  In addition to her parents, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her brother Martin G. O'Hara Jr., who undoubtedly shared a special bond with her throughout their lives.

Mary Anne's wishes were no calling hours and a private burial that will take place at a later date. While we mourn the loss of Mary Anne, let us remember the warmth and joy she brought into our lives. Funeral arrangements have been placed under the direction and care of the Little Falls owned Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.
