Mary Lorraine (Luppino) Sherrick

Mrs. Mary Lorraine (Luppino) Sherrick, 86, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, June 8, 2023 at the Abraham House, Rome, New York.

Mary was born on June 27, 1936 in Mohawk, daughter of the late Joseph and Eva Luppino. She attended Mohawk Central Schools. In 1972 she was united in marriage with the late Fred W. Sherrick in Herkimer.   After her husband's passing, she moved to Colorado and opened up Mary's Bake Shop.  Mary loved to travel, spend time in the mountains and made many friends along the way.  In 1994, Mary returned to her home town to help care for her elderly mother.

Surviving are her daughters; Cynthia DeVaul of Mohawk, Lisa Howard and husband Marc Leandre of Henderson, Nevada; her brothers, John Luppino (Jane) of Mohawk, Frank Luppino (Carol) of Ilion, Rocky Luppino (Debbie) of Herkimer; her sisters, Eva Healy of Mohawk and JoAnn Catalina (Bob) of Chittenango; grandsons, Michael DeVaul of Mohawk, Maxwell Howard of Henderson, Nevada and Mason Leandre of Henderson, Nevada; a granddaughter, Melissa DeVaul of Troy, great-grandchildren, Justin DeVaul, Isabel Bello, Amayah Dashnaw, Urijah Dashnaw and Lincoln Dashnaw, many neices, nephews and special friends she met during her adventures and when she settled down at London Towers.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Siver, brothers Tony Luppino and Marty Luppino, by one sister, Kathy Foley and by her brother in law, Gary Healy.

There will be no services. Please consider memorial donations to the Abraham House of Rome who's staff provided compassionate and comfortable end of life care for Mary and her family.  Arrangements for cremation are under the direction and care of Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131.
