Michael C. Mike Conte

Ilion, NY-Mr. Michael C. Conte, age 94, of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, following a long illness with the loving support of his family members. He was born on July 19, 1923 in Frankfort, son of the late Michael and Modesta (Pandolf) Conte and educated in Frankfort schools.  On June 18, 1993, he was united in marriage with Joan B. Geloso at Annunciation Church, Ilion with the Rev. Joseph Benintende officiating.  The couple recently celebrated 25 years of marriage.  He retired in 1985 after several years of is employment as a surveyor, lastly with the Local Union 158.   Mr. Conte was a founding member of the Mid Valley Beagle Club.  He loved hunting and attending time trials with his many beloved beagles that he raised throughout the years.  He enjoyed trips to Saratoga.  He will be missed his many family members and friends.+ Survivors include his beloved wife, Joan at home; his loving children, Joann Fitzer of Ilion, Bert McCumber of Utica and Karen Miers and husband Gary of Ilion; two siblings, Frank Conte of Texas and Margaret Consiglio of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Erin and Christopher; six adored great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins, all who were much loved by Michael.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Louis, Joe, Samuel, Dominick, Cora, Rosie, Fanny and Mary and by his grandson, MIchael Fitzer who was loved by many. In keeping with Mr. Conte's wishes, there are no public calling hours.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his memorial Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 10:30 am from Annunciation Church with the Rev. Paul Catena, pastor officiating.  Procession will follow to Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion where interment will take place.   The Conte family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at St. Luke's Healthcare for their tender love and care offered during this difficult time.
